FiNaL Day @ B Sec Sch.......
ToDay Is my FinAL DAY at B (just want it to be known that way *hehehe*) Sec Sch .. Been relief teaching there for a month. Was a great experience. Nothing makes me feel more alive than be in the company of my students (no matter how noty, silly and irritating they are *teehee*) Too bad i can't be a full time teacher.. Someone up "above" don't seem to want me within their league..
oh Well enough of me being sour grapes... Its better to map out my one month journey at B Sec (which is in the Western part of Sg)... :D .. First day there was 6th Of JuLy 2004. Was so excited when i received the call for relief *weeeee!!*... was even more elated when i got to know i have to teach EngLish, CPA and Civics and Moral Education (ahem! i very moral okie :P) .. First day was a blast .. realised that my classes was sec 4 (normal tech), sec 2 (normal tech) and sec 2 (express)...
Seriously, any other teacher would have guessed that the normal tech students would be the ones giving trouble, not paying attention and so on .. BUT .. in this case, the express class was the noty noty noty ones ... normal tech being just..... noty .. *heeehee* .. so the weeks passed by with me knowing each of the students better (except the sec 2 express cos i met them only once a week for CME).. and i must say i have grown attached to them .. they are cute in their own way .. tho there will surely be a period a week that i will "lecture" them ..*hehehe they hate this but just gave me their courteous attention* ... Gosh will miss their crazy antics and silly excuses to go for toilet breaks *hehehe* ..
My colleagues there were good, especially the ones that i have to work closely with. Mr K is a great and patient teacher.. he is always smiling eventhough he is the Normal tech coordinator .. (my bias view - normal tech teachers/coordinator are always the strict and fierce ones)... he is so humble and gives the students basic respect (i can see that the students respect him so much cos of that ... ).. there was also Miss F .. SHe is also a friendly person.. She is my partner for CPA.. i didnt know that 2 CPA teachers have to be present during CPA lessons .. during my first CPA lessons, i was so sotong that i left after the first and half period (it was a 3 period lesson) .. I thought i just have to sit in (cos one week she will conduct lesson and another week i will conduct lesson) and leave when i have see or learn enough .. i didnt know that eventhough she conduct the lesson that week, i have to be present ... heehh so i happily asked her if she needs any help .. she said no .. so i took it as a siGN to leave *ekkeek* ..so i told her im leaving *at this point she also looked a bit blur but she said ok* and i left ! ... then next day .. i was told by Mr K that 2 teachers have to be present *i just have to ask him the qn after seeing Ms F's reaction* ... so with a pinky paiseh face, i approached Ms F and apologised to her profusely for leaving her in the lurch with 40 students hehehe .. geez am i bad or what :P .. luckily she was ok with it .. she said its ok .. she thought i have something to do at that time so she didnt hold me back :P .. There were also my immediate neighbours like Ms N (who gave me a bunny choco!! hheeheh) , Mr KH (who made me walk around the school with the students during their mass run periods!!! ehhehe) and Mrs T (who will always give me a smile when we made eye contact) ...
The reason why i acknowledged a simple gesture like a smile is because, in a foreign land (read - teacher staff room) and foreign people (read - other teachers, especially trained teachers), minute (extra small) individual like me feel overwhelm and lost .. so when someone offers a smile (read - acknowledgement that i am there and they can see me), i feel good and will smile back .. there were and will be instances whereby i made the first move to smile but .. some don't bother to smile back or disengage eye contact .. oh well .. whatever makes people happy .. i cant possibly force everybody else to return my smile right ! ..... hehee ... but it would be nice isn's it :P ...
anYway ... with a new environment comes new experiences, acquaintances and friends that I will treasure ..Guess im just thankful to be given a chance to fulfil my desire to teach albeit a small and temporary role ..... Only time will tell if im cut out for it *winks*...
