WeT weDneSday *wee-ooooo-weeeeeee*
Wah..so shiok cos there was rain in the afternoon and it is STill raining now!!! *heeheh* Finally some cool weather :D. In high spirits today. Let me tell You why *hehehe*. I teach this boy Literature in school. He is a VERY emotionally-volatile person *in my personal opinion ah*. Still remembered the first day i entered the class. Within 15 mins we were at each other's throat. I scolded him because 1) he did not pay attention. 2) he distracted his classmates and even had this one-to-one caressing session with one of his girl classmate *gasps* 3) he was simply rude to me and the other teacher who had pulled him aside to talk to him. After hurling vulgarities @ me *cos i questioned him whether he has a problem with that teacher*, he sat back at his place, covered his head and refused to budge for the rest of the period. I should have sent him for detention or pass his name to the discipline committee but i didnt. Primarily because i asked the class chairman aka monitor *who is a helpful and good girl :)*. She told me that most teachers would ignore him because this boy has a history *which should not be posted here* and his moods are kinda erratic. So while he was covering his face *besides that, i could see that he wasnt really downright defiant ie, stare at me in the face etc* i talked to him out of other students' earshot. i told him that i would forget what he just said to me. But that does not mean he could do it again because the next time he does it, i will send him straight to the dicipline mistress myself. I told him not to disrupt my class in the future. of cos la he still didnt budge... so i just ignored him for the day...
The next consecutive lessons he was quiet. he didnt do my work *action to flip the worksheets away, read the newspaper etc* but he was minding his own business. so i let him be. i wanted to see how far he can remain that way. On the 3rd week *ie on the 4th lesson*, he began to take down what i wrote on the transparencies !!! i was so elated but of cos must maintain .. so i pretended i didnt notice what he was doing and went about teaching the rest.
Today, he answered my worksheets. His answers were not complete and so on but i was happy that he decided to make an effort to at least do it and handed it up to me. For the first time he smiled during my lesson, cos i was joking with the rest of the class then i caught him smiling. when he realised that, he quickly turned away. I am definitely going to be patient with this boy. I am not trying to make him a genius or something but at least be a better student than he is now. It was great to finally get some kind of response from him *smiles*. Some students succumbed to scoldings/nagging/etc, some succumbed to praises, while this boy succumbed to being ignored *evil laffs* AnywaYs tomorrow will be a BETTER day ! :D
